Bali is the perfect place to end our trip. Beautiful, peaceful, warm, lots to do but not too much. Unfortunately not as cheap as we would have hoped, but worthwhile nonetheless. Not pictured is our babysitter Febry, who is making it possible for Arron and I to go to yoga and reflect on the past five months. It's all coming together here! and best of all the footie is being shown live on the Australian network. Go the Sainters!
The cooking class day was a real highlight - food amazing but I'll never be able to replicate it. The setting was just divine and best of all we discovered the adjoining village, which coincidentally was having their bi-annual ceremony the next day. So we returned and were treated to an amazing cultural experience. And warmth. We left at 7 pm, worried the kids would explode, and apparently everyone was asking our driver why the guests were leaving so early! Today we climbed Mount Batung so also got to see quite a bit of the beautiful countryside and rice fields. The girls spent the day at Green Camp outside Ubud - rave reviews, though possibly because it's the first time they have been with kids their own age in a few weeks! In some ways this is the first place we have been where we are real tourists, and being part of the frenzied hordes is something I don't necessarily enjoy. When we come back to Bali, as I am sure we will, I think it will be as volunteers on one of many worthwhile projects here.
